You’ll first begin by touring the city’s iconic centerpiece and emblem – the Duomo Cathedral. A masterpiece of gothic art with its white marble spires, the catholic church is the third-largest in the world and took nearly six centuries to complete. Take a glance at the five bronze doors that depict scenes of Milan’s history before climbing up to the rooftop to walk among the spires, and take in some of the best views of the city.

Next, you’ll head north off Piazza del Duomo through to the glittering Galleria Vittorio Emanuele arcade, the world’s oldest shopping mall. A 19th-century architectural masterpiece, it houses the flagship stores of Italy’s great fashion houses – Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli, Prada, Valentino – all Milan natives.

You’ll then leave the Galleria to continue through to La Scala, long the leading opera and ballet theater in the world where the greatest composers such as Verdi, Puccini, Toscanini, and ballet dancers like Nureyev, and opera stars like Pavarotti have graced its stage. Just as resplendent as it was in the 18th century when Empress Maria Theresa of Austria had overseen its construction, you’ll learn all about its history as you step inside to marvel at its opulent interiors – with red velvets, silk brocade walls, and gilded stuccos illuminated by a huge glittering chandelier composed of nearly 400 lamps.
